ASEZ WAO in Melbourne, Australia, Carries Out Cleanup Near Koonung Creek
Brightening and Beautifying the Local Community
On January 28, members of ASEZ WAO—the Church of God Young Adult Worker Volunteer Group—from the Melbourne branch, along with visiting Korean members, carried out the Blue Ocean Project near Koonung Creek in Melbourne. Koonung Creek has been classified as having “very poor” water quality by the State Government of Victoria, which is actively working to improve the area through better management of trash and sediment buildup.
Approximately 70 volunteers participated in the cleanup, removing over one metric ton of household waste, including plastic bags buried in mud, discarded plastics, and even abandoned bicycles. Volunteers also engaged in raising public awareness of the importance of protecting the marine ecosystem, contributing to a cleaner and healthier community environment.
