One day, the Pharisees and the teachers of the law, who had come from every village of Galilee and from Judea and Jerusalem, were listening to the teachings of Jesus. Some men came carrying a paralytic on a mat and tried to take him into the house to lay him before Jesus, but they could not find a way because of the crowd.
They gave up entering the house through the door and went up on the roof. They took off some tiles and lowered the paralytic on the mat in front of Jesus. When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the patient, “Friend, your sins are forgiven.”
They could have given up because there was no way. However, people who brought the paralytic risked climbing up the roof with the faith that the patient would get healed once he met Jesus. Jesus performed the miracle because he saw the faith not of the patient but of the people who brought him. He was moved by their eagerness to heal the sick even by tearing off the rooftop.
The heart which wants to save someone! The name of it is “love.”
Love is the greatest power that moves God and brings forth a miracle.
