Duty as a Father

I was wandering around in the world, without anyone to rely on. Then, one day, my colleague in my former company introduced the Church of God to me. Unlike the heartless world, the Church of God had a bright atmosphere, and all the members looked happy. When I realized the Spirit and the Bride who give the water of life to my soul, I was overjoyed, thinking, “I’ve found where I should go at last!” and received a new life.

Afterwards, listening to sermons became a part of my daily life. Through sermons, I was able to gain greater understanding about the principle of the soul, and the more I realized, the more I was reminded of my family. I was sorry to my children for not having treated them well as a father. I wanted to share with them the blessing of the Kingdom of Heaven. Yet, I didn’t know where to begin. I prayed with tears to God for my family to be saved, and made efforts to show my best side as a father.

Just then, God allowed me to have a truth preaching booklet and preach the Gospel to my children once or twice a week. Though I wasn’t an eloquent teacher, I poured my heart into preaching, hoping to go to Heaven with them. They must have felt my sincerity. My oldest daughter and son-in-law, who hadn’t changed their hearts for months, started to give ear to God’s word, and eventually received the truth.

Before, my oldest daughter and her husband enjoyed traveling around on holidays, but after receiving the truth, they came to Zion on the Sabbath, saying, “It is more important to keep God’s commands.” Just like most of office workers, my son-in-law used to relieve his stress by drinking alcohol. However, staying close to God, his life patterns have totally changed. He got rid of harmful habits, and made efforts to live in accordance with God’s will. It was a miracle from God. And my oldest grandson, who wouldn’t smile as he was going through puberty, became happy after attending the Church of God. Though it took more than an hour by bus to get to the church, he didn’t hesitate to attend gatherings for students and also participated in serving Zion like cleaning. I was proud of him as he was storing up blessings in Heaven.

Seeing her older sister change, my younger daughter took interests in the truth. She wanted to know about the Church of God as it entirely changed her older sister positively. So the younger daughter, having learned the truth from her older sister, began her life of faith. She also boasted about the Church of God to her younger brother, who is my youngest son, and his wife. In the end, two more souls received a new life as God’s children.

Seeing my children grow to become heavenly family members as good fruits, I feel as if I’m dreaming. When I recollect the process of how my children came to Zion one by one, my heart still flutters. All I wanted was doing my duty as a father to lead my children to the right path. With faith that God will help me lead them in the right way, I prayed to God and delivered the message of salvation to them. Though I was living according to my sinful desires, Father and Mother led me to the way to Heaven and allowed me to play a role as a gospel tool. As a result, I was able to fulfill my duty as a physical father to my children. I’m sincerely thankful to Heavenly Father and Mother.

I have no memory of my mother who gave birth to me. I’ve always longed for my mother, and I’ve met Mother of my soul. In the arms of Heavenly Mother, I feel true comfort and joy, and the love of a mother I longed for.

There are still many people who don’t know Heavenly Mother. Though I’m in my old age and not an eloquent speaker, I will preach the truth with the purpose of fulfilling my duty as a neighbor like the Good Samaritan, because God’s love is too wide and deep for me to receive alone.
