Jarrett J. Krosoczka, an American cartoonist, went to give a lecture at the elementary school that he attended, and ran into a lady who had been working in the same school cafeteria since he went to the school. He was delighted to see her, who still worked at the cafeteria for a long time, and the moment he saw her, he was inspired to create a new artwork. It was about a secret agent, a school lunch lady, fighting villains with cooking utensils and protecting the school and students.

The cartoon became very popular and it changed students’ attitudes toward lunch ladies in their schools. Students delivered thank-you letters to lunch ladies and gave them a flower vase with their picture as a gift. Lunch ladies, being acknowledged for their work, felt proud and worked more joyfully than before.

Before a child can learn, their belly needs to be full. He said, “These women and men are feeding our children every single day and working on the front lines to create an educated society.” One person’s new perspectives completely changed the value of what had been considered insignificant.

A thank you can change a life. It changes the life of the person who receives it and the life of the person who expresses it. Jarrett J. Krosoczka
