My husband who works in a construction site, my daughter studying in the lab, and I are living together. My husband and daughter are so busy that it is difficult for us all to get together. However, since I diligently put into practice the “Mission of the Month” in the Happy Home booklet, a little change started to appear in my family. For my husband who goes to work at dawn, I didn’t see him off with the excuse that I was washing the dishes. Unlike before, now I hug him with greeting full of love. On his payday, I always prepare special dish for him with gratitude.

Recently, I carried out the mission, “Wash your family’s feet,” in order to practice the love that God showed us as an example in the foot-washing ceremony on the Passover. I thought it was a good mission for my husband who wears safety boots all day long due to his job.

One evening after supper, I poured warm water into a basin to the depth of ankles and dissolved salt and baking soda in it for the mission. And I called my husband, who was watching TV on the sofa, his favorite seat, holding the remote control tightly.

“Honey, would you come here, please?”

“What for?”

“Let me wash your feet.”

“My feet? I’ve already taken a shower. I have to watch TV now.”

At the moment, I was disappointed. ‘Oh, no! I’ve prepared all this to please him, but he will just watch TV?’ But I did not give up. If he doesn’t come to me, I can come to him. I turned to a mobile footbath service and brought the basin to my husband. Then I gently pulled his feet and put them in the water. I massaged his feet that get hurt almost every day , and washed them for about twenty minutes, adding more warm water. When I finished wiping his feet with a towel, my husband, who had indifferently entrusted his feet to me, said bashfully.

“Good! Thank you.”

I was also grateful to my husband for appreciating my small effort. From now on, I will continue to put more effort for my family’s happiness. The mere thought of a happy family brings me a smile, lifting the corner of my mouth.
