There are moments that are remembered by scents. Occasionally, my mom bought flowerpots for gardenias; when I put them by the window, the scent from the flowers spread out along the soft wind. To this day, when I smell gardenias, I’m reminded of old memories against the sunset background. In my middle school years, when I opened the door of the broadcasting room for the final interview of joining the broadcasting club, I smelled freesias which eased the tension. The scent of freesias evokes the old memories I had with the broadcasting club. In spring season, acacias bloomed around my university, turning the air into sweet scents like those of perfumes. Every spring, I’m vividly reminded of the memories I had along with the scent of acacias.
But thanks be to God, who always leads us in triumphal procession in Christ and through us spreads everywhere the fragrance of the knowledge of him. For we are to God the aroma of Christ among those who are being saved and those who are perishing. 2 Co 2:14–15
The aroma of Christ is the scent of life. I suddenly became curious about what kind of aroma I emit to people. If I have correctly put into practice God’s love, the aroma of Christ will spread out from me, but I’m ashamed. From now on, I will surely change into a new being and emit the scent of life, following the example of Heavenly Father and Mother.
