In the late afternoon when the sunlight came through the curtain, I became drowsy. Suddenly, my cell phone rang. It was my second son who went out with his friends to ride scooters.
“Mom, I don’t know where I am.”
When I heard that, my body got up instantly. ‘He had said he was going to a nearby park, but how come he doesn’t know where he is now?’ My son said he was riding scooters in the park, and then he went out of the park and rode it around the alleys with his friends. As the evening time was approaching, his friends went back home one by one, and he was left alone. Looking around, he could not recognize the area anymore.
My son told me about the buildings that he was seeing, but it sounded unfamiliar to me, too. Hearing the phone call, my husband was going to just leave to find him, but I asked him to calm down first. Then, I told my son to go to the nearby real estate office and ask how to get to the central market. Since my son was familiar with the market, I thought he would be able to find the way back home from there.
My husband went to the market to pick him up, and I kept talking to my son on the phone to identify the direction. My son took the wrong turns and went back to where he was, or he went to a totally wrong way. How long had it been since I was on the phone with him while I felt like I was sitting on pins and needles? Finally, he said, “I’ve met Dad!” Then, I was relieved.
When my son came back home, he was such a mess. Unlike his clean appearance when he left the house, his face was covered with sweat and dust, and his clothes were covered with dirt. He looked scared, worrying that I would scold him. I told him to wash up first. When he came out of the shower, I noticed that one of his arms did not look alright. It was red and swollen, and he couldn’t lift up his arm because it hurt so bad. It seemed like his arm was broken. My heart was aching when I thought of my son falling down while riding scooters and being left alone and lost.
I took my son straight to the emergency room. The doctor’s diagnosis was a fracture as expected. After putting on a cast and operating a surgery to put an iron rod in his bone, everything was resolved.
This incident made me reflect upon my spiritual status. Just as my son wandered around without realizing that he was hurt or lost, I had wandered around, not knowing where my soul was heading and whether or not my soul was sick while indulging in worldly pleasures, before I came to Zion. It was only after I met Heavenly Mother that I could understand the state of my soul and the way to my heavenly home.
I am grateful to Heavenly Mother for leading me to the right path, constantly telling me where my soul should go. I will always listen to the voice of Heavenly Mother, who guides my soul, and follow Her wherever She leads me.
