“My grandson said you are famous. May I have your autograph?”
An old man approached Roger Moore, who was reading the newspaper in the airport lounge. Roger Moore is an actor who played the role of James Bond in the 007 Series. He gave his autograph on the back of his plane ticket, however, the 7-year-old grandson, who did not know his real name, was disappointed that the autograph did not say, “James Bond.” When his grandfather asked him to give him another autograph for this reason, Roger Moore whispered to the grandson,
“I had to use a different name. Otherwise, Blofeld (the name of the villain in the movie) can notice that I am here.”
The little boy was so happy because he felt like he was a part of the movie doing the mission together with the characters.
As time went by, he grew up to be a television writer and met Roger Moore again on the set for a public service announcement. When he talked about what happened at the airport when he was a child, Roger Moore said he was not able to recall but was glad to hear about it. When the filming was over, however, Roger Moore looked around, approached him, and said quietly,
“Of course I remember that day. But I couldn’t tell you earlier. There is a possibility that some of the cinematographers might be under the control of Blofeld.”
The 30-year-old writer recalled that day and said that he was so happy because he felt like he was a 7-year-old again when he met Roger Moore for the first time.
