In one jungle in Zimbabwe, a baby elephant fell backwards as it fell into a puddle. The mother elephant tried its hardest to help its baby elephant up, but it couldn’t. The baby elephant kept losing its strength, and lions started roaming around them, waiting for the mother elephant to become tired.
Right then, some other elephants that saw what was going on started gathering around them. Some of them worked together to help the baby elephant up, and the rest of them blocked the way to keep the lions away. Since even baby elephants weigh a lot and elephants use their trunks like their hands instead of using their front legs, it wasn’t easy even for several adult elephants to help a baby elephant up. However, they kept on trying without giving up. As one of them grabbed the baby elephant’s front leg, using its trunk, and helped it sit up, and then pushed its back, using its foot, the baby elephant was finally able to stand back up. It could have become food for the lions, but it was able to get out of the puddle safely.
Elephants are known to be largest animals on earth. However, even though they are so strong, it is hard to survive in the wild alone. Aren’t they become even stronger because of their altruistic behaviors of helping their fellow elephants in danger without hesitation?
