One day, my husband came back from work, limping. As I asked him what happened, he said he fell at a small car accident and he felt pain in the leg. He thought he would be okay and came straight home without going to the hospital. I was worried there might be its aftereffect. I simply applied ointment on his bruised knee and put an ice pack on it. I hoped nothing would happen as my husband said he would be okay after a night.

The next day, my husband said he should see a doctor. The doctor said he needed to undergo knee ligament surgery. Although he fell slightly, he needed a surgery. My heart sank.

However, I felt grateful because it could’ve been worse. Hearing the news, my two sons consoled me, saying, “Mom, don’t worry. God will help us.”

On the day of the surgery, when my husband was being carried into the operating room, I told him to pray to God, and he said he would. At his reply, I was moved.

After my husband was sent into the operating room, my younger son and I prayed together in the ward and waited for the surgery to be over. The surgery was done successfully. How thankful! My first son came after his part-time job and volunteered to nurse his dad, hearing the doctor say the patient might suffer from much pain on the first day of the surgery. He also said he wouldn’t leave his mom in men’s ward.

While my husband was hospitalized, my two sons, each on a different day, shampooed their dad’s hair, helped him shave, and ate meals together, keeping him company.

One day, I talked with my younger son on the way home.

“Aren’t we thankful for all things? Your dad was not badly injured, the surgery was well done, and he’s recovering quickly.”

“Mom, do you know the characteristic of God’s children?”

“What’s that?”

“When they are a little injured, they are thankful for not being injured seriously. When they are much injured, they thank God for saving their lives. And when they meet their last day, they are thankful for the fact that they can go to the kingdom of heaven.”

“You’re right. Hahaha!”

My younger son and I laughed together for a while.

My husband got better quickly and was discharged from the hospital early.

Returning home, he said, “I was very nervous before entering the operating room, but I was fine as I prayed, following your advice. The doctor seemed to show 150% of his ability, and our two sons too did good jobs. Thank you all.”

“Dad, don’t worry. Your firstborn son is always here for you!”

“Here I am, too. So, just get well, Dad!”

My husband is doing the rehabilitation training very hard. He is faster than any other patients in recovery. In this way, he has come closer to God thanks to His love. I believe God has given us great blessings as we were united in one, relying on God and giving thanks even in a difficult situation.

Our family will give thanks in all circumstances, so that this happiness can last long.
