When One of Two Is in Pain

Recently, I had gone through a hard time; I had a pain in my stomach and had a high fever and even vomited up. Sure enough, I was rushed to the emergency room and took various medical checkups in the hospital. It took a long time to take even one checkup. As my disease was not identified, I couldn’t get into a ward. What was worse, I had to wait for a couple of hours to see a doctor. Meanwhile, I was exhausted both physically and mentally.

While I was having such a hard time, one person was always with me. It was my husband. Staying beside me for four days in the emergency room, he became my hands and legs. What was prepared there for the guardian was only a chair. Having a short sleep on that small chair, he could not eat properly while taking care of me day and night. He was so considerate of me that he didn’t take even a sip of water before me because I couldn’t drink water. He checked me all the time to see if I had a fever. Though I vomited constantly, there was not the slightest shade of ill will on his face.

At that time, I didn’t recognize how hard it was for my husband. As my sickness was a first thing to be concerned of, I couldn’t think further to realize how tired he could be while nursing me. I just took his care for granted because I’m his wife and I was sick. When I recovered my health, then I was thankful and sorry to him. If he had not taken care of me so devotionally, I couldn’t have endured the four days in the unfamiliar emergency room.

While going through a hard time, I could feel the importance of my family. Whoever is sick may regard his family as most important. God made Eve from the rib He had taken out of Adam; I believe He meant that when one of two is sick, the other should take care of the one in trouble as himself. I give thanks to God the Father and Mother for letting me realize the importance of my family and letting me regain my health.
