On February 29, more than 130 participants, including members of ASEZ, the World Mission Society Church of God University Student Volunteer Group, from Parañaque and two other branches joined a cleanup at the Las Piñas–Parañaque Wetland Park. Officials from the Parañaque City Hall, Fire Department, and Police Department, as well as local citizens, also took part in the event. This site is one of the Philippines’ major wetlands and is well known as a resting place for migratory birds. Starting at 6:30 a.m., volunteers collected approximately 830 kilograms (1,830 pounds) of waste, helping preserve the natural habitat and protect biodiversity. In addition to the cleanup, ASEZ members also hosted a panel exhibition on blue carbon, highlighting its role in absorbing carbon dioxide and addressing the climate crisis, while sharing valuable environmental knowledge with the public.
Mark Anthony Esteban, Parañaque Fire Senior Inspector BFP, said, “We carry out cleanups every quarter, but today I was especially moved by the passion of these young volunteers. It made me reflect on the true value of service,” and expressed his hope for continued collaboration with ASEZ.
