On February 23, approximately 120 people, including the World Mission Society Church of God University Student Volunteer Group (ASEZ) members from the branches in Pretoria and six others across South Africa, members from Korea, and local citizens gathered at Klapperkop Nature Reserve in the City of Tshwane to remove the invasive alien plant pompom weed.

Known for its aggressive spread, pompom weed depletes water resources and threatens biodiversity. It requires regular cutting to control its growth. Volunteers worked diligently, using scissors to trim the stems and collecting the cuttings in bags.

An official from Klapperkop Nature Reserve expressed admiration for ASEZ’s continuous efforts, saying, “We are deeply impressed by ASEZ’s ongoing contribution to keeping the nature reserve beautiful and healthy.” Tshepo Baloi, an ASEZ member from Johannesburg, South Africa, shared, “I feel proud to take even the smallest action toward preserving nature.”
