On June 26, about 970 members in the Daegu area took part in the “Erasing Plastic Footprints Campaign” as part of the Worldwide Hope Challenge. The participants began their 5-kilometer (3.1-mile) walk at the Palgeocheon riverside in Eumnae-dong, Buk-gu, Daegu, passing through Dongcheon Station and ending at Chilgok Unam Station. Along the way, they collected single-use plastic waste, such as plastic bottles and delivery containers.
Meanwhile, a panel exhibition was held to raise awareness about the dangers of microplastics, the long time it takes for plastics to decompose, and the seriousness of environmental pollution. Citizens showed their commitment to reducing plastic footprints by writing down their ideas and pledges on sticky notes, which they then attached to the Hope Challenge PR panel.
