The Student Volunteer Group belonging to the International Student Bible Academy [ISBA] of the World Mission Society Church of God received awards from the Office of Education and National Assembly members in Korea, and local governments in Korea and other countries, as a result of its volunteering for local communities beyond school and striving to protect the environment.
The Student Volunteer Group in South Gyeongsang Church Region received the certificate of appreciation from the Superintendent of South Gyeongsang Province Education Office right before the new semester. They received recognition for contributing to raising environmental awareness by carrying out street cleanups at least once a month in and outside schools and in parks, and by holding many environmental campaigns on campus.
The City of Changwon presented a citation to the Church of God Student Volunteer Group for their consistent and active volunteer activities. ASEZ Stars of the Dongducheon, Dongducheon Jungang, and Yeoncheon Churches received a citation each from a National Assembly member for forming right youth culture by actively carrying out environmental protection activities. ASEZ Star from Ulsan Church Region, which took the lead in environmental cleanups at nearby schools and rivers, received a citation from a National Assembly member on May 7.
Students from the Salt Lake City Church in Utah, U.S., too, received the Mayor’s certificate of appreciation. The students attended the awards ceremony held at West Valley City Hall. Two students were given an opportunity to speak on behalf of the group at the ceremony. They said that the volunteer activities of the Church of God students were a result of imitating God’s love, and that they wanted other students, too, to lead a healthy school life through volunteer activities. Karen Lang, West Valley City Mayor, complimented the students and presented them with a certificate of appreciation.
The World Mission Society Church of God Student Volunteer Group, which fulfills the role of the salt and light of the world through good deeds, will continue to volunteer with sincere hearts.
