The year 2024 marks the 106th anniversary of the birth of Christ Ahnsahnghong, who came according to the prophecy of the Bible, and the 60th anniversary of the establishment of the World Mission Society Church of God. In 1948, when Israel, symbolized by the fig tree, regained independence, a ray of the gospel light, shone by Christ Ahnsahnghong, rapidly spread throughout the world after the establishment of the Church of God in 1964, illuminating the world with the light of truth in just over half a century.
In the first month of the new year after an eventful year, the Church of God opened the door to the hopeful gospel of 2024 with an event commemorating the 106th anniversary of the sacred birth of Christ Ahnsahnghong. More than 23,000 members such as the pastoral staff and members from overseas, such as Nepal, India, and the United States, as well as the domestic pastoral staff and title or position holders, attended a pre-commemorative event held at the Okcheon Go&Come Training Institute on the 4th and 7th, ahead of Christ Ahnsahnghong’s birth anniversary (December 1st in the lunar calendar), and shared the joy of His birth and strengthened their resolve to spread the gospel for the new year. On the 11th, His birthday, commemorative services were held simultaneously in 7,500 Churches of God throughout the world.
In the first part of the commemorative service, Mother offered up prayers to Heavenly Father who came to this earth to save His children who were destined to die because of the sins they committed in heaven, and comforted the members who worked hard in the gospel, following the Father’s path with one heart. Mother encouraged the members, saying, “Saving even one more soul is an act of faith, and great faith brings about great miracles. Let us diligently spread the hope of heaven with love to those who fear disasters and troubles, by practicing God’s holy love” (Heb 11:1–2, 6–12).
General Pastor Kim Joo-cheol, emphasized the significance of Christ’s second coming, saying, “Whether it was 2,000 years ago or in this age, God’s coming in the flesh is good news of great joy for mankind. If Christ had not come, we could never hope for forgiveness of sins and eternal life.” He further encouraged by citing the miracle of five loaves and two fish, saying, “Our abilities may be feeble, but with God, we can accomplish great deeds. Let’s boldly proclaim our Savior to Samaria and to the ends of the earth, for God is with us” (Lk 2:4–14; Heb 9:28; Jn 6:4–13; Isa 41:10).
The second part of the commemorative event continued with performances by the Church of God members from around the world, celebrating the birth of Christ. It began with a rendition of Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9, specifically the 4th movement “Ode to Joy,” performed by the Church of God Messiah Orchestra and a choir of 150 members. The program included diverse and touching stages, such as musical performances by children’s choirs and dynamic presentations by youth and student members. Performances and dances prepared by overseas members were captured on video and shared. Praises from members in remote areas around the world, including Sertung in Nepal, San Blas in Panama, and Itacoatiara in the Brazilian Amazon, sharing their longing and gratitude to Heavenly Father, touched the hearts of attendees. Additionally, a video essay highlighting the sacrificial path walked by Christ Ahnsahnghong until revealing the truth of life, as well as a special video about the purpose of the second coming of Christ, also left a deep realization and lasting impression.
Mother complimented all the members who prepared for the event for their efforts and wished all the members success in preparing for heaven with faith, accomplishing significant progress in gospel history in 2024. The attendees at the event made a resolution, “When we look closely at the great achievements of the gospel, we see that nothing has been easy or simple. We will follow the example of Heavenly Father and Mother, remembering Their love and sacrifice at every step. With this determination, we’ll share the good news with all 8 billion people on the earth.”
The Church of God has achieved a quiet yet powerful gospel work in line with God’s guidance and biblical prophecies. The long-awaited new year, marking the 60th anniversary of establishment, has arrived. The journey of the church members toward great miracles, which will be achieved with great faith following in the footsteps of Christ Ahnsahnghong, is expected to become even busier.
