The 2nd Happy Seminar with Neighbors was held on April 30 at the Nakseom Church in Incheon, and the 3rd one at the Suyeong Church in Busan on April 30, which highlighted the meaning and value of family that are fading in modern society and delivered a message of love to local residents. The first seminar was held at the Gwonseonho Maesil Church in Suwon, Korea, in July of last year. This year, the seminar was held right before May, the Family Month, in Korea. A total of 2,300 people, including not only the church members and local residents but also people from various fields such as former and present members of Congress and professors, attended the seminar.
The side event hall, which was opened before the seminar, was crowded with attendees. In the calligraphy zone, they handed each other postcards with phrases such as “You did a great job today” and “My daughter, I love you!” In the photo zone, they wore crown props and made a heart with fingers. Every age group made a memorable moments with these side events. The new side event called “Write a Postcard to Parents,” became a place for family members to share their feelings.
The main event began at 1 p.m with two parts: a chamber orchestra concert in the first part, and the Happy Seminar in the second part. The Church of God Chamber Orchestra, which consists of string and wind instruments such as violin, trombone, and euphonium, played the songs that may comfort their souls. The Church of God’s New Song, “I Imagine to Myself,” a children’s song, “Island Baby” which has beautiful melodies, and the original sound track, “Cinema Paradiso,” from the movie with the same title. The choir sang the New Song, “There Is Only Heaven in My Heart,” and a song that expresses the beauty of the four seasons of Korea, “A Beautiful Country.”
Then, the event was followed by the seminar on the topic of “Family, the Most Precious Gift.” The host moved the hearts of the audience with the true stories about the love of fathers and mothers, which we easily forget in our daily lives. Wiping tears, the audience were reminded of their parents’ love and the meaning of family.
Lee Min-gil (from Incheon) said, “I’ve come with my wife who is currently ill. Both of us were desperate for our mental and physical rest, and it’s been a great opportunity to obtain comfort and strength for my wife who goes through pain day after day.” Choi Ho-jeong (from Busan) said, “I looked back to see if I took the unconditional sacrifice and love of my parents for granted because I am their child. Thank you for letting me feel the love of my parents that I forgot.”
Park Wi-gwang, the Head of the Namdong-gu volunteer service center in Incheon, said, “It is impressive that the members of the Church of God voluntarily prepare an event to move others’ hearts. Thank you for inviting me to this meaningful seminar.”
On a warm spring day, the Happy Seminar with Neighbors cheered up the local residents of Incheon and Busan, and will be held again in the metropolitan and rural areas around October, when autumn is ripe, for wellness of their hearts.
