Foreigners and Strangers on Earth
Jeong Eun-seo from Las Pinas City, Philippines

It has been several years since I came to the Philippines. By God’s grace and through the love of my Zion family, I’ve adapted so well that I sometimes forget I am a foreigner, and for that, I am truly thankful. Still, there are moments when I feel disheartened, especially when I’m unable to fully express what’s in my heart to the local members. When speaking with those who struggle with English, I try to mix in simple local phrases, use a bright smile, and express love and care through cheerful gestures.
There were times when, despite looking up words in dictionaries or studying with translation apps, wondering how I could comfort a member after work, or how I could share the love of Heavenly Father and Mother with someone in need of spiritual growth, I still found myself frustrated when the words didn’t come out as I had hoped.
All these people were still living by faith when they died. They did not receive the things promised; they only saw them and welcomed them from a distance, admitting that they were foreigners and strangers on earth. Heb 11:13
God Himself came to this earth to save His children, who live here as foreigners and strangers. To those who had forgotten the language, culture, and everything of heaven, living as if this earthly life were all there is, He revealed that the beautiful and glorious kingdom of heaven is our true home, and He showed us the way back. Even when we didn’t understand right away, He patiently waited until we could slowly begin to realize.
Language and cultural differences are no obstacle in the face of the love shared by the heavenly family, who are united through the flesh and blood of God. Even if the words are imperfect, hearts eventually connect, and understanding follows.
I will continue to learn the language and culture of heaven that God has taught us. I long for the day when we can communicate freely and share everlasting joy together in the eternal kingdom of heaven.
