On July 27, Church of God Young Adult Worker Volunteer Group [ASEZ WAO] conducted a cleanup at the Reconquista River located in Tigre City, Buenos Aires Province. As part of the ASEZ WAO’s Blue Ocean Project, the volunteers aimed to improve water quality by picking up trash discarded in the river and on the beach, ultimately contributing to the protection of marine ecosystems. Approximately 90 participants, including ASEZ members from Korea and the local community, took part in the volunteer activity. Notable attendees included Gabriela Zamora, Minister of Internal Affairs for Tigre Municipality, and officials from the Tigre Municipality.
At 10 a.m., members holding provided grabbers and trash bags gathered at the Tigre City Hall and began the cleanup near the Reconquista River. For approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes, they collected 320 kg [705 lbs] of trash, including PET bottles, beverage cans, plastic bags, and approximately 20,000 liters [5,300 gal] of plastic waste in volume.
On this day, the Tigre Municipality commended and expressed gratitude for the activities of ASEZ WAO in the Buenos Aires area, presenting them with a certificate of appreciation. ASEZ WAO members in Argentina, who have been engaging in various activities such as environmental cleanups, challenge to use public transportation, climate change response seminars, and more, plan to continue their ongoing volunteer efforts for humanity and the earth by collaborating with local communities.
