David appoints stonecutter to dress stone, and prepares a large amount of iron, bronze, and cedar including one hundred thousand talents of gold and one million talents of silver, for building a temple that will show the fame and splendor of God in the sight of all nations.
After preparing everything, David calls for his son Solomon and says, “My son, I had it in my heart to build a house for the LORD my God. But God said, ‘Your son Solomon will build a house for my Name.’ Now, my son, build the house of the LORD, as God said you would. You will have success if you are careful to observe the decrees and laws that the LORD gave. Do not be afraid or discouraged. Be strong and courageous.”
David orders all the leaders of Israel to help his son build the temple.
Solomon succeeds his father David on the throne afterwards, and devotes himself to building the temple according to the word of God as his father told him.
The materials and manpower needed to build the temple of God were exceedingly grand and enormous. But nothing could block what Solomon was going to do. That was all thanks to his father David who prepared abundant materials for the temple. Just as he was promised to be successful if he carefully observed the word of God, Israel remained in peace while he was building the temple and ruling his kingdom.
In this age, the spiritual temple is being actively constructed, taking God’s children who have been found in the world as its material (Eph 2:22). Just as Solomon did, we, too, can fulfill the mission given by God because God has already prepared all the necessary things for the completion of the work of prophecy.
Let us not be afraid, but be strong and courageous in building the heavenly temple. This is the way to have success and blessings.
