Jesus has been teaching the words of God to the crowds on the seashore from a boat. As evening comes, He asks His disciples to go to the other side of the lake. The disciples escorts Jesus onto the boat and other boats follows it.

At that time, a furious squall comes up, and the waves are breaking over the boat, so that it is nearly swamped. Scared, the disciples are coming to Jesus, who is sleeping in the stern, and waking him.

“Teacher, don’t you care if we drown?”

He gets up, rebukes the wind, and says to the waves, “Quiet! Be Still!” Then the wind dies down and it is suddenly calm.

“Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?”

At Jesus’ rebuke, the disciples are terrified and whisper,

“Who is this? Even the wind and the waves obey him?”

The disciples didn’t fully know about Jesus, whom even the wind and the waves obey. They didn’t recognize the almighty One who was with them closely, so they trembled in fear when the winds and the waves arose and threatened to swallow them right away.

God created the heavens and the earth and governs them.

As long as you think that the Almighty God is with you, you don’t need to worry about anything even though you are facing unexpected winds and waves. Let’s have faith! The faith to believe that God, who calmed the rocking sea and the harsh wind of our life, is with us always!
