On February 19 (local time), the Brazilian National Congress held a “Solemn Session in Honor of the World Mission Society Church of God (Sessão Solene em Homenagem à Igreja de Deus Sociedade Missionária Mundial)” at the National Congress Palace in Brasília, recognizing the Church’s outstanding volunteer work and community service.

The session began at approximately 11:20 a.m. in the Ulysses Guimarães Plenary Chamber, with the attendance of members of the Chamber of Deputies and around 160 invited guests, including Church pastoral staff and members. The event was broadcast live nationwide on TV Câmara, drawing attention to the Church’s remarkable initiatives.

Following the national anthem, a 10-minute video presentation introduced the Church’s truth and extensive volunteer activities. Deputy Reginaldo Veras Coelho, who chaired the session and originally proposed it to Congress, delivered heartfelt opening remarks:

“When we care for the environment and our neighbors, we are caring for God’s creation—this earth and its people. Just as the members of the Church of God are doing around the world, we must also expand these efforts. That’s why I am pleased and honored to welcome all of you to this House of the People, the National Congress.”

Deputy Reginaldo praised the commitment of the Church’s young adult volunteers and reflected on the meaningful collaborations he has shared with them through the years. Pastor Jeon Jae-ho, representing the Church of God Brazilian Association, gave thanks and glory to God and expressed sincere gratitude to the Congress. He introduced the Church’s origin, history, and core beliefs, bearing testimony to Second Coming Christ Ahnsahnghong and God the Mother. Speeches followed from representatives of ASEZ (University Student Volunteer Group), ASEZ WAO (Young Adult Worker Volunteer Group), and ASEZ STAR (Youth Student Volunteer Group), who shared their experiences addressing global issues such as environmental protection, education, and social well-being.

The solemn session was enriched with vibrant performances. Church choirs sang pieces emphasizing faith and environmental care, while a traditional Korean fan dance closed the ceremony with a stunning display of cultural beauty and harmony.

In a nation that faces environmental and social challenges—including deforestation and poverty—the Church of God’s motherly love-based volunteerism continues to resonate with leaders and communities. Brazil, home to the Amazon rainforest known as the “lungs of the earth,” has recognized the Church’s heartfelt efforts. Previously, on December 7, 2022, the Brazilian National Congress awarded the Church of God its highest honor, the Medal of Legislative Merit. More recently, on May 2, 2024, the São Paulo City Council held a commemorative event celebrating the Church’s 60th anniversary, acknowledging its ongoing humanitarian contributions. Looking ahead, the Church of God Brazilian Association plans to further its efforts for the betterment of the earth and humanity through continued cooperation with national and local governments.
