A lady, who was tender with a very warm personality, lived next door. Her baby daughter was also well-behaved probably because she resembled her mom. The baby was not afraid of strangers and made no trouble, so I gave a hearty compliment to her, “You’re a really good girl. How cute!” As I joked that I would be able to bring her up since she was so gentle, her mother waved her hand. She said that I would not know how hard it was to take care of her if I just watched her for a while, but that at moments she felt anger rise in her as she was with her child all day long.

One day, I stayed for quite a while at her home, and saw the child clinging to her mom and whining when things did not go her way. The mother was overcome by her child and met her demand; but as her child kept on whining, she raised her voice in the end as if she reached the end of her patience.

Sure enough, according to an article I read recently, whining is the worst sound in the world. The researchers of psychology at the State University of New York asked people to do subtraction problems while listening to various irritating sounds such as newborn baby’s crying, children’s whining, adults’ regular speech, and a high-pitched table saw. People made more mistakes per math problems completed when listening to the whines than any of the other speech patterns or noises.

It did not matter whether someone as a patent or not, and a man or a woman. The researchers said, “Many moms say that when their children whine, it drives them insane. This is not because the mothers lack patience but because the sound truly makes people extremely irritated.”

If someone continues to be around me and keeps nagging to satisfy his or her requests, how annoying and exhausting it will be! Just as the research says that the whining is the most annoying sound in the world, it will be a big trouble to the person who has to listen to it.

I was reminded of a movie titled “Bruce Almighty. The movie set up a situation where a man, who was always full of complaints, suddenly received omnipotent power from God. Then the man was tormented by the unceasing sound of prayers day and night, and tried to find a way to stop the sound. Thinking that it would be practical if he handled it with papers, he filed their prayers. Then the room was packed with files soon. To save space, he used post-it notes, then the notes covered the whole room. As he received prayers through his e-mail, it continued to flood his account so that there was not enough storage space. He gave up on answering every prayer one by one, and answered “yes” to all prayers. The next day, the world was in chaos.

I can feel the sacrifice of Heavenly Father and Mother who answer every prayer of Their children day and night. Father and Mother have no rest because Their children do not do anything by themselves like real children. However, They tell us to “ask, seek, and knock.” It is because They just want to give us everything endlessly—it is the love of God.

‘Answer me, answer me!’

Heavenly Father and Mother answered my prayers with sacrifice, love and patience even though I asked for the impossible stubbornly and sometimes cried out. How great the sacrifice is, which Father and Mother have had to suffer in the name of parents! However, it is only God who knows I am lacking and helps me out. So I will not stop praying, following the words, “Ask,” and raise my voice to give eternal thanks and praise to Elohim, my Heavenly Father and Mother.
