God Sympathizes with Us

‘Why did God live the same way people lived?’

This is what I had been wondering about for a long time since I began to believe in God. Our sins can be forgiven only through the precious blood of Christ, and for that reason, God must have come to the earth in the flesh. However, He could’ve suffered the pain of crucifixion only for a short moment. Why did He endure all that pain and suffering for such a long time? I couldn’t understand it easily.

One day, however, I happened to read one verse in the Bible. I felt as if I got punched in the head.

“For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet was without sin.” Heb 4:15

When someone is in an extreme situation, no matter what others may say, it wouldn’t comfort him. He would say, “How can they know how I feel? They’ve never experienced this!” But if there’s someone who’s been in the same situation or gone through difficulties and gives words of consolation, it would be a different story, because his words are not just a guess. That’s why God came as a man.

When you sympathize with someone or his feelings, you will feel sorry for him and understand him. God came to the earth as the high priest to take away our numerous sins. In every way, God experienced the same things as we did, so He could understand us, feeble beings. He was hungry; He was in pain; He was persecuted; He was despised; and He suffered from poverty and illness. God went through all those things because He wanted to sincerely comfort us and encourage us. This is God’s love.

It wasn’t always easy for me to keep faith. But every time I wanted to give up, I remembered God who had walked this path before me, and I mustered up the strength to move forward. I could do so thanks to the love of God who sympathized with me. How can I repay God’s love?

Now, the love of God who sympathizes with everyone and wants to give them one more chance for salvation is spreading throughout the world. Heavenly Mother is always with us, giving us Her love and care.

As the Bible says, “Finally, all of you, live in harmony with one another; be sympathetic, love as brothers, be compassionate and humble” (1 Pe 3:8), I will live in harmony with my brothers and sisters in Zion and preach the great love of Heavenly Father and Mother to people all around the world.
