Lowering Ourselves
Grasses have chosen to lower themselves as a strategy for survival. Because their growing points are located so low that they almost touch the ground, even when grazing animals eat their leaves, the growing points remain unharmed. In this way, grasses are able to preserve their species.
The essential condition for completing the wilderness journey of faith is to humble ourselves. Even when hardships come, we can reach the promised land, the spiritual Canaan, not by relying on our own experience or understanding, but by depending on God, humbling ourselves, and obeying His word completely.
Only by lowering ourselves can we grow, overcome, protect ourselves, and endure to the end.
“Remember how the LORD your God led you all the way in the wilderness these forty years, to humble and test you in order to know what was in your heart, whether or not you would keep his commands. He humbled you, causing you to hunger and then feeding you with manna, which neither you nor your ancestors had known, to teach you that man does not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of the LORD.” Dt 8:2–3
