Korea

On April 7, the Church of God donated 100 million KRW (approximately USD 73,000) to the North Gyeongsang Provincial Government to support wildfire relief efforts. The donation was made with the hope that victims of the recent disaster ccould swiftly return to their normal lives.
The wildfire, which broke out in Uiseong County at the end of March, spread rapidly due to strong winds and dry conditions, engulfing nearby counties and cities, including Andong, Cheongsong, Yeongyang, and Yeongdeok. According to data released by the provincial government on April 3, the fire claimed 27 lives, destroyed about 4,000 homes, and displaced approximately 4,000 people.
Church representatives visited the provincial office in Andong and met with Governor Lee Cheol-woo, expressing their hope that the donation would help alleviate the suffering of the affected residents. Pastor Kim Jung-rak from the World General Assembly Headquarters of the Church of God said, “Our members came together with one heart, hoping to be of some help. We send our deepest condolences to those suffering from this sudden disaster and pray for the swift return of peace in their lives.” Governor Lee expressed gratitude, stating, “The wildfire was so intense that even boats at sea caught fire. We will do everything we can to help the residents recover.”
The donation will be delivered through the North Gyeongsang Community Chest of Korea and used for wildfire recovery efforts, including temporary housing and other support to help victims regain stability.
