The Bible tells us that the goal of our faith is the salvation of our souls (1 Pe 1:8). If we believe in God but fail to be saved, our faith is in vain and we will be the most pitiful people in the world. The Bible says that the only place where the unsaved people will go is hell—a place of eternal torment. So, we need to take the matter of our salvation seriously.
Above all else, we need to know about God who saves our souls. 2,000 years ago, there were also many people who claimed to believe in God, but they didn’t know God. It was because Jesus Christ—God who came in the flesh according to Bible prophecy, looked very different than what they had expected God to be. Many people today say they believe in God. However, if they do not pay attention to the prophecies of the Bible, they will come to reject God who has come a second time to save mankind, just as the Jews crucified God who came to His own.
Salvation depends on God. We must not deny the Bible, God’s written instruction manual, while we admit that God gives us salvation. God has revealed all the principles of salvation in the Bible.
The Bible has an essential message. It is the message of eternal life, the salvation of our souls. That is why we should diligently study the Bible.
“You diligently study the Scriptures because you think that by them you possess eternal life. These are the Scriptures that testify about me, yet you refuse to come to me to have life.” Jn 5:39–40
It is eternal life that we must find through the Bible. Life is very short. When our life ends, the moment will come when we have to meet God. So, we should look forward to the upcoming kingdom of heaven and prepare for the future.
The path that the Bible shows us is the path to salvation—the way to heaven. Let’s see what kind of people can enter the kingdom of heaven, through the testimonies in the Bible.
“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.” Mt 7:21
Jesus said, “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven.” So, we need to be very careful in the matter of our salvation. The kingdom of heaven is a place where only those who do the will of Father in heaven can enter.
It is also through the Bible that we can find the will of the Father. We must do God’s will, which the Bible shows us, and meet the true God who leads us on the path to heaven. The Bible explains about the testimony that enables us to enter the eternal kingdom of heaven.
We accept man’s testimony, but God’s testimony is greater because it is the testimony of God, which he has given about his Son. Anyone who believes in the Son of God has this testimony in his heart. Anyone who does not believe God has made him out to be a liar, because he has not believed the testimony God has given about his Son. And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life. 1 Jn 5:9–12
When we arrive at heaven’s gate with God’s testimony, God will allow us to enter heaven, saying, “You are my people,” and He will stop those do not have His testimony from entering it. The testimony God has given us is eternal life, which is in Jesus Christ. Let’s find out how eternal life in Christ is given to us and how we can distinguish between those who have the Son of God and those who do not have Him.
“I am the bread of life . . . I am the living bread that came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever . . . Jesus said to them, “I tell you the truth, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day . . . Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me, and I in him. Just as the living Father sent me and I live because of the Father, so the one who feeds on me will live because of me.” Jn 6:48–57
God Himself taught us how to have eternal life when He came to this earth in the flesh 2,000 years ago. Jesus said, “I am the bread of life,” adding that the one who feeds on Him will have eternal life. The words of Jesus, “Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me, and I in him,” are the same as the words in 1 John, “He who has the Son has life.”
Those who do not eat Jesus’ flesh and drink His blood have no eternal life. Without eternal life—the testimony of God, they just call out to Him, “Lord, Lord!” The kingdom of heaven is a place where there is no death. So, only those who have eternal life can live there. Whoever does not have the promise of eternal life can never enter the kingdom of heaven. In order to receive eternal life—the testimony of God, we must eat Jesus’ flesh and drink His blood.
In order to go to the kingdom of heaven, we need the definite testimony of God in accordance with the Bible. God has taught us how to eat Jesus’ flesh and drink His blood through the Bible.
On the first day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread, the disciples came to Jesus and asked, “Where do you want us to make preparations for you to eat the Passover?” He replied, “Go into the city to a certain man and tell him, ‘The Teacher says: My appointed time is near. I am going to celebrate the Passover with my disciples at your house.’ ” So the disciples did as Jesus had directed them and prepared the Passover . . . While they were eating, Jesus took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to his disciples, saying, “Take and eat; this is my body.” Then he took the cup, gave thanks and offered it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you. This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.” Mt 26:17–19, 26–28
Jesus had His disciples prepare the Passover, and spent the last moments of His public life celebrating the Passover. He has assured that the Passover is a ceremony to eat His flesh and drink His precious blood. So, through the Passover, human beings can eat Jesus’ flesh and drink His blood. Ultimately, the New Covenant Passover—the way to receive eternal life—is the greatest testimony of all that God has given us through His promise.
Since Jesus has said that we have no life in us unless we eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, how can we be saved without celebrating the Passover? Those with an obscure faith should not be over confident in their salvation. They must have the testimony of salvation that is confirmed in the Bible.
Then came the day of Unleavened Bread on which the Passover lamb had to be sacrificed. Jesus sent Peter and John, saying, “Go and make preparations for us to eat the Passover.” . . . They left and found things just as Jesus had told them. So they prepared the Passover. When the hour came, Jesus and his apostles reclined at the table. And he said to them, “I have eagerly desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer. And he took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, “This is my body given for you; do this in remembrance of me.” In the same way, after the supper he took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out for you.” Lk 22:7–15, 19–20
Jesus proclaimed the covenant of life at the Passover, the day before His crucifixion. He said, “I have eagerly desired to eat this Passover.” These words of Jesus show how anxious He was to save us.
We can have eternal life and enter heaven when we are re-created with Jesus’ flesh and blood through the truth of the Passover. That’s why Jesus wanted so eagerly to eat the Passover with His disciples. The new covenant Jesus Himself established through His flesh and blood reflects His earnest desire to save us sinners and take us to heaven.
The apostles also kept the New Covenant Passover established by Jesus Himself. Only those who put this truth of the new covenant into practice with faith can go to the eternal kingdom of heaven. God repeatedly emphasized this fact in the book of Jeremiah.
“The time is coming,” declares the LORD, “when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah. It will not be like the covenant I made with their forefathers when I took them by the hand to lead them out of Egypt, because they broke my covenant, though I was a husband to them,” declares the Lord. “This is the covenant I will make with the house of Israel after that time,” declares the Lord. “I will put my law in their minds and write it on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people.” Jer 31:31–33
God has said that He will proclaim the new covenant and will be the God of those who have His law written on their hearts. In other words, God has promised to be the God of the people who abide in the truth of the new covenant, not of those who just call out to Him, “Lord, Lord!”
The gate of heaven is to be opened to those who do the will of the Father. Jesus has clearly said that unless we eat His flesh and drink His blood, we have no life in us. However, some people claim that they can be saved even though they do not eat Jesus’ flesh and drink His blood, and they mislead people into believing in such a false logic against God’s word. This is an act of leading not only their own souls but even the souls of others to hell by shutting the kingdom of heaven in their faces; both of them are in a very dangerous situation. All those people will be banned from entering heaven’s gate. So, when they say to Jesus, “Lord, Lord, did we prophesy in your name, and in your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?” He will tell them, “I never knew you” (Mt 7:21–23).
The Bible says that God’s testimony is eternal life and God gives us eternal life through the Passover of the new covenant. God distinguishes between those who are His people and those who are not, according to whether or not they have the new covenant—the law of truth—in their hearts. The people of God are those who live in the new covenant and keep it.
We must not look at God from our own point of view. The Jews, who were confident that they believed in God sincerely, did not accept God who came to this earth in the flesh and crucified Him. This historical event is an example for us who are living nowadays. Spiritual truths must be discerned by spiritual words (1Co 2:13). When we look at God who is Spirit through the Bible—a book of God’s spiritual words, we can find the true God.
We must find eternal life, the salvation of our souls. Whoever seeks eternal life will come to meet God in Zion. The Bible shows that it is our God who gives eternal life to all people through the truth of the New Covenant Passover.
On this mountain the Lord Almighty will prepare a feast of rich food for all peoples, a banquet of aged wine—the best of meats and the finest of wines. On this mountain he will destroy the shroud that enfolds all peoples, the sheet that covers all nations; he will swallow up death forever . . . In that day they will say, “Surely this is our God; we trusted in him, and he saved us. This is the LORD, we trusted in him; let us rejoice and be glad in his salvation.” Isa 25:6–9
The expression “he will swallow up death forever” means he will give eternal life. The wine that has the power to destroy death is the Passover wine that Christ has promised as His blood. The words “aged wine” imply that the Passover was not celebrated for a long time.
The Passover of the new covenant, which was established by Jesus, continued to be handed down by the apostles. However, this truth of life began to be destroyed by our enemy the devil around the end of the apostolic age. This was already prophesied through the prophet Daniel and the Apostle Paul in the Bible. The Passover was finally abolished at the Council of Nicaea in A.D. 325. Men artificially destroyed the law of God.
The Bible says that the One who destroys death and gives us eternal life through the Passover wine that has been stored for a long time is God whom we have been waiting for. We must trust in God, who gives us eternal life through the New Covenant Passover, for our salvation.
Our momentary choices determine our eternity, just as one advertisement says, “A moment’s choice affects a decade of your life.” We should understand what God has taught us through the Bible, instead of being deceived by the false doctrines of those who say that they are saved without any testimony from God. Through God’s word we should receive clear testimonies, and through God-given testimonies we should have confidence in our salvation. The Bible is God’s word, which shows the way to salvation, the way to heaven. We must absolutely believe this fact.
God’s word helps us open our spiritual eyes to see the spiritual world, just as a microscope or telescope helps us see things that are invisible to the naked eye. Through the Bible, the people of Zion can see the kingdom of heaven, realize God, and have eternal life.
God does not dwell in places where the Passover of the new covenant is not observed, and there is no salvation in such places. God has promised to give eternal life to those who keep the new covenant. We must not distort the promise of God according to our own interpretation of it. Brothers and sisters in Zion! I hope you all will attain salvation in heaven by meeting Heavenly Father and Heavenly Mother in Zion where there is the New Covenant Passover and always praising God who has given us eternal life through the Passover.
