Sharing Love With Neighbors for the New Year
Donation of Blankets to 4,720 Families Nationwide
Korea
The Church of God in Korea donated 4,720 micro-fibre blankets to 220 government offices from January 9 to 18, just before the Lunar New Year holiday. The members of each region visited their government office, hoping that just as a blanket covers the body from cold weather, it would comfort the neighbors who were exhausted from the severe cold waves and the economic hardship caused by the aftermath of COVID-19.
The blankets were donated to city halls, ward offices, and administrative welfare centers nationwide to be delivered to neighbors in need of helping hands, such as single senior citizens living alone, adolescent-headed families, single parent families, multicultural families, and families with disabilities. Local government officials thanked the Church of God for taking care of local communities and share warmth every year.
Park Jong-woo, the Mayor of Geoje City, said, “I’d like to thank you for sharing with disadvantaged neighbors every national holiday. Our city will make it a heartwarming holiday for our neighbors to be together, not alone anymore.” Yun-hwan, the Head of Gyeyang-gu, Incheon-si, said, “Volunteering and sharing are not done by those who can afford it financially, but by those with warm hearts.”
The members who participated in the volunteer service wanted their neighbors to have a healthy and happy New Year holiday. A member Jeong Yu-mi (from Taebaek) said, “I hope neighbors in need have a happy and warm holiday. I’m grateful to be able to convey my love to my neighbors even a little.” Another member Lee Hyo-jeong (from Osan) said, “It’s extremely cold this year, so I hope everyone has a warm holiday without anyone being left behind.”
