In the sweltering heat of summer, workers need rest and comfort, escaping from their busy daily routine. On June 25, the Church of God in Moran, Seongnam, Korea, held the “23rd Seminar for Workers,” to provide a time of comfort for workers. Approximately 680 worker members and local residents of the metropolitan area attended the seminar, and more than 5,800 people from all over the country watched the seminar, which was broadcast live on the official YouTube channel of the Church of God.
Prior to the main event, the participants received calligraphy postcards with phrases such as “You are already doing well,” or “I will cheer for you today and tomorrow, too,” which made them feel comforted from tiring work life. At the photo zone, they took pictures to leave precious memories, wearing small headbands and wreaths and smiling like a child.
At 1 p.m., the seminar began with greetings of the host. The host read the answers to the Balance Game, which the participants had pasted on the panel at the side event zone before the seminar, and they had an “Empathy-Talk.” The audience laughed at the realistic or best possible answers to interesting questions, such as “Which one do you prefer, a nice boss who is not good at his job or a mean boss who is good at his job?” and “Which one would you rather want to be, making $2,000 per month without working or making $8,000 while working for 6 days a week?”
The theme of the seminar was “The Time Devoted by Parents.” Two presenters came out in turn, and moved the hearts of the audience by reading an essay about the love of a father who influenced and helped the lives of his children in every aspect, and an essay about the love of a mother who plays a supporting role for her children’s life. The audience was moved to tears by the love of parents who willingly devote their lives to their children. The presenters concluded the seminar, saying that they hoped everyone would receive eternal happiness through the New Covenant Passover, which contains the unconditional love of God the Father and God the Mother.
Kim Yong-hyeon, who attended the seminar at the invitation of his co-worker, said, “Through the seminar, I came to understand my father’s hard work, sacrifice, and love that I didn’t know when I was young. Whenever I face a difficult moment, I will be able to overcome it, thinking of my father.” Kim Jeong-woo said with a smile, “I just started working at my current job. I felt bad whenever I make even a small mistake. Now I’ve felt comforted a lot to learn that other workers, too, are going through similar difficulties. I was tired, but through the seminar, I’ve been comforted.” Cho Eun-ju who participated in the live broadcast on YouTube, said, “I felt like I was communicating with the host as if I had been there. I laughed a lot at the Balance Game and got comforted by the content of the seminar. I felt like I’ve escaped from my monotonous daily life.”
