Workers are preparing for the future in a rapidly changing society, each with their own concerns—such as promotions, maintaining good human relationships, and developing work capabilities. To help these passionate individuals take a moment to breathe and better prepare for the future, the Church of God held a “Seminar for Workers” on November 10. The seminar took place simultaneously at five Church of God locations across the country, including the New Jerusalem Pangyo Temple in Seongnam, Gangnam in Seoul, Gwangsan in Gwangju, Buk-gu in Daegu, and Suyeong in Busan. Approximately 5,000 participants, including church members from nearby regions, attended and had a meaningful time.
The event consisted of two parts: a chamber orchestra performance in the first part and a seminar in the second part. The chamber orchestra began its performance to the applause of the attendees. The program featured heartwarming and emotional movie OSTs, such as “When You Wish Upon a Star” from Pinocchio and “Cinema Paradiso” from Cinema Paradiso, as well as the sweet classical piece Salut d’Amour by Elgar, captivating the audience. The choir performed the lyrical song “Nostalgia,” expressing longing for one’s hometown, and the Barcelona Olympic theme “Amigos Para Siempre,” concluding the performance with a wave of applause from the audience.
“You briefly closed your eyes and, upon opening them, felt a chill. Which is the bigger disaster: realizing it’s time to go to work or facing the manager (CEO)?”
The presider presented a series of awkward situations that workers might face in a game, reflecting their concerns and setting the theme for the seminar. Participants burst into laughter at the presider’s detailed descriptions of the scenarios. In this cheerful atmosphere, the seminar began under the theme “Are You Ready?” Three presenters took the stage, highlighting the reality of unpredictable disasters despite advancements in science and technology. They explained that God’s protection is promised in the Passover, the motif for The Last Supper by Leonardo da Vinci. They also introduced scenes from Bible history, such as the Exodus, where observing the Passover let the people avoid disaster, and emphasized the value of the Passover. In conclusion, the presenters wished that workers, living in a fast-paced world, would keep the Passover and enjoy a peaceful life.
Kim Chae-a from Siheung, who has been participating the “Seminar for Workers” since 2019, said, “I’ve been experiencing stress since I recently changed jobs, but thinking about how God blesses our future through the Passover gave me comfort. Next time, I’d like to invite my co-workers to share this encouragement.” Moon Ji-su from Gimpo remarked, “When talking about work, there’s often uncertainty about the future, and even while considering job changes or self-development, many feel anxious. I think the seminar’s purpose of sharing God’s sure promise and giving support to workers concerned about the future is truly wonderful.”
Councilor Kim Ok-soo from the Seo-gu Distric Council, Gwangju Metropolitan City, said, “As the economy is tough, young adult workers are deeply concerned about making a living. I believe that by holding this event, the Church of God has provided young adults with positive energy, helping them prepare well for their future careers.”
Meanwhile, the additional event area set up before and after the seminar was filled with participants in less than five minutes after opening. In the sock yarn keyring-making section, participants gathered around desks to weave sock yarn1 into keyrings shaped like roses and cherries. In the calligraphy postcard section, they chose postcards with encouraging messages to give to each other or took cheerful photos at the photo zone, capturing the moments that would inspire them in their work lives.
