Glorify God Through Your Good Deeds

There are many unbelievers around us who hold preconceived ideas that Christians’ words, attitudes, and deeds must be superior to those of non-Christians. Therefore, we should strive to glorify God, recognizing that each of our words and deeds has the power to either conceal or reveal the glory of God. Jesus also taught us to glorify God through our good deeds.

“In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.” Mt 5:16

If our good deeds lead many unbelievers to repentance before God, how pleased God will be! Apostle Peter exhorted us to live good lives as follows:

Live such good lives among the pagans that, though they accuse you of doing wrong, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day he visits us. 1 Pe 2:12

No matter how right the truth is, if the deeds of the saints are evil, the light of the gospel will be dimmed. However, if the truth is right and the people who preach the truth are virtuous, the light of the gospel will shine even brighter and God will bestow many blessings upon them.

Our body is the holy temple where God dwells (1 Co 3:16). Since we are united with God, we should do God’s work, display God’s glory, and resemble God. When we follow the example of Christ and strive to have His character, we can fully resemble God.

In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus. Php 2:5

. . . through you may participate in the divine nature. . . . For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, mutual affection; and to mutual affection, love. 2 Pe 1:4–7

If we possess the mind of Christ and practice virtuous deeds both within and outside the church, we will demonstrate our goodness not only to Zion members but also to non-believers, thus glorifying God.

The Bible warns us not to follow the pattern of this wicked and adulterous generation (Ro 12:2). We should not be swayed by worldly trends, but should always strive to glorify God through our good words, kind hearts, and beautiful deeds even in this wicked age.
