ASEZ Green Concert Held for a Plastic Pollution-Free India
Events Take Place Across Five Locations in Hyderabad, Telangana
ASEZ members in the Hyderabad region of India took the lead in raising awareness about the seriousness of plastic pollution and its impact on climate change. From February 23 to March 1, the ASEZ Green Concert for a Plastic-Free India was held across various parts of Hyderabad, Telangana. The events were conducted at five major locations, including the Shilpakala Vedhika Convention Center, Osmania University, and the Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Telangana Secretariat. Approximately 3,000 people attended, including ASEZ members, local citizens, and representatives from various sectors. The strong participation reflected the community’s growing concern about plastic pollution and its commitment to addressing the issue. Korean members visiting India during their vacation also supported the events, contributing to their success.
The concerts featured a variety of performances, including vocal ensemble and orchestral music. The mixed vocal ensemble presented environmental songs such as “Right Now Right Here,” delivering a powerful message about the urgency of protecting the environment and encouraging collective action. In addition, Indian traditional dance and Korean fan dance performances prepared by the members were warmly received, enriching the overall program.
Distinguished guests expressed their support for ASEZ’s environmental initiatives. Manoj Agarwal, Regional Director of Hyderabad Integrated MSW Limited, the regional waste management agency, remarked, “The message highlighting the dangers of excessive plastic use was very impactful. I hope it will contribute to reducing plastic use not only in India but around the world.” Usha Rani, former Counselor of the Telangana Government, stated, “India still consumes a large amount of plastic. If events like this expand nationwide, they will greatly improve public awareness.” In recognition of ASEZ’s efforts, the Telangana Government and Osmania University presented plaques and certificates of appreciation.
The concerts also inspired practical action toward reducing plastic use. ASEZ signed an MOU with Hyderabad Integrated MSW Limited to promote cooperation in eco-friendly waste management and the expansion of resource circulation. On February 26, the ASEZ Zero Plastic 2040 Pledge Ceremony was held at the Kukatpally Courts, attended by approximately 300 legal professionals, including the chief judge and lawyers. Participants acknowledged that reducing plastic pollution is a responsibility aligned with constitutional values and the public interest, and pledged to take the lead in related efforts.
