On August 13, members of the Church of God University Student Volunteer Group [ASEZ] at Cavite State University in the Philippines carried out the “Green Campus Cleanup” on Imus Campus. Approximately 100 people, including ASEZ members and officials from the Imus Municipality took part in the event.
The cleanup was carried out for about an hour from 7 a.m. The volunteers picked up scattered trash around the campus, including deeply buried plastic and rain-soaked paper. Despite the sweltering weather, the volunteers served with bright smiles, cleaning every nook and cranny around the Imus Campus.
Nerea Crisostomo Defensor, Information Education Campaign [IEC] Supervisor from City Environmental & Natural Resource Office [CENRO] said, “ASEZ’s environmental activities contribute significantly to maintaining the cleanliness of the city and serve as a good example for Imus Campus students.” Adjett Loi D. Bagunas, an ASEZ member, said, “Campus cleanups may seem trivial, but they greatly help residents prepare for heavy rain or flooding. I’m happy and proud to volunteer with many university students.”
The Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources of Imus City awarded a certificate of appreciation to ASEZ for their contribution to creating a clean environment, and encouraged them.
