“Be careful with your words. Once they are spoken, they can be only forgiven, not forgotten.”

“The tongue has no bones, but it’s strong enough to break a heart.”

There are many quotes concerning the way we use our words. Most of them warn you to be careful of what you say because once you spit out your words before tasting them, you may get in trouble. Speaking too comfortably or jokingly may bring about irreversible negative results to your relationships. The power of words is greater than any weapon in the world; the slightest word can bring about a snowball effect.

We all stumble in many ways. If anyone is never at fault in what he says, he is a perfect man, able to keep his whole body in check. James 3:2

You haven’t become a perfect person yet, so you may often make mistakes. It would be great if you were careful of your words and did not make mistakes. However, if you did make a mistake, there is a way to correct it; be honest, confess, and sincerely apologize, thinking about the person who was hurt by your words. Instead of worrying about your pride and reputation, you should consider others. This is the kind of love God made known to us.
