I once struggled financially as my company went bankrupt. I tried many things, but I couldn’t find the answer. I felt like walking a long, dark tunnel alone.
Thinking that I needed to pull myself together in times like this, I focused on listening to sermons, reading the Truth Books, the Bible more diligently. Among the verses I read, there was one verse that comforted me greatly.
“Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will be joyful in God my Savior.” Hab 3:17–18
Although I had a hard time financially, my heart was filled with thankfulness when I thought of God who saved me. God has promised me the kingdom of heaven where there are no tears, no death, and no pain. So how can I feel discouraged just because I’m having a hard time right now?
Things can always get better or worse. What is important is not to lose a thankful heart. From now on, no matter what kind of hardships I may encounter, I will only look to God and will never lose gratitude and joy.
