In recognition of the World Day for Social Justice (February 20), the World Mission Society Church of God launched the “Hold Hope!” campaign throughout February, reaching out to vulnerable communities across the globe. The United Nations established the World Day for Social Justice at its 62nd General Assembly in 2007, encouraging international cooperation in fighting poverty, promoting equality, and building inclusive societies. In support of this initiative, Church of God members in around 30 countries—including Myanmar, Venezuela, and Malawi—delivered food donations to approximately 460 households in partnership with local governments. The beneficiaries included elderly individuals living alone, grandfamilies, and others in urgent need.

Each grocery box contained essential items such as rice, pasta, cornmeal, flour, cooking oil, sugar, canned goods, and instant noodles, carefully selected to provide comfort and sustenance. In cities like Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, and Yangon, Myanmar, Church members personally delivered the packages, offering not only material support but also warm words and compassionate care to their neighbors.

A representative from the City of Tshwane, South Africa, expressed gratitude, stating: “There are many people here who suffer from poverty due to unemployment. Thank you so much for providing food during this difficult time.” In La Paz, Bolivia, the government agency Sedeges, which promotes social welfare and charitable programs, awarded the Church of God a certificate of appreciation for its efforts.

Participants also shared their reflections. Stephen Anku from Lagos, Nigeria, said: “We are one family in the global village, so I will share Mother’s love until everyone’s hearts are filled with hope.” Gauri Manandhar from Kathmandu, Nepal, shared: “We carefully prepared the supplies, thinking about what our neighbors would need. I hope those who received them will feel encouraged and have a hopeful 2025.”

The “Hold Hope!” campaign is part of the Church of God’s Global Hope Challenge, which focuses on six key areas—including the poverty and hunger allevation. These efforts align with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), extending into various fields such as climate response, educational support, and health and well-being promotion.

Through heartfelt volunteerism and acts of kindness, the Church of God continues to spread hope and build a brighter future—one neighbor at a time.
