A story of a precious heavenly family we met in Botswana, Africa.
From the moment we first met her, Anna warmly welcomed us. She was deeply moved by the truth about God the Mother and wanted to keep studying the Word. Before long, she started calling us “my sisters,” and after each Bible study, she would share heartfelt thoughts like, “I feel like I’ve finally found the way to heaven,” and “Now I can tell what’s true and what’s not.”
As Anna grew stronger in faith and closer to God through each study, we offered her the blessing of becoming a child of God. Although we hoped she would accept right away, she postponed baptism, saying she wanted to tell her church and her family first. She didn’t give a clear time, only saying, “Soon!” Though her hesitation made us a little anxious, her firm expression left us with no words to push further.
Not long after, Anna’s brother passed away, and we didn’t see her for a while. Worried about how she was doing, we sent her a message. She replied, “I remember the true word of God. I will become stronger.” Her response moved us deeply.
When we finally saw her again, she looked much more at peace. The reason? She had openly declared to her family that she would now attend the Church of God. Amazingly, some family members even said they wanted to come with her—she had already begun sharing the gospel with her own family. Even more surprising was the fact that all her previous Bible studies had been in English, yet Anna hadn’t fully understood English! She had been piecing together what she could from familiar words, and still, she grew in faith and shared the truth with her family. Later, she began learning the Word again from the beginning in Tswana1, her native language, and understood the truth more deeply. That following Sabbath, she finally received baptism.
1. Tswana: A language spoken language spoken widely in Southern Africa, mainly in Botswana and South Africa.
“Now I’ve become part of the heavenly family. I’m a baby, spiritually speaking.”
Despite coming from work late in the day and surely being tired, Anna smiled like a child, full of joy from God’s blessing. Over the course of two months, every member of Zion shared the Word with her at least once and prayed together with one heart for her. As we prepared for her baptism, seeing everyone express gratitude to one another, we came to truly understand what unity means.
Sister Anna is now prayerfully considering how she can share the gospel. It fills us with joy to know that the unity through which she came to God will also lead her to bear beautiful fruit. We look forward to the day she brings delight to our Heavenly Mother by bearing fruit that reflects her steadfast faith.
