Fast Alone? Together Though Taking Time

There is a sister whose faith grew so much around the time of the Passover. She participated in preaching with great joy that members around her were energized.

One day, I preached the Passover to a passerby with the sister. We met her again at another time. She came to Zion, studied the truth of the Bible more, and finally received the blessing of a new life. She filled herself with the word of God and overcame the tests she faced right after beginning her life of faith.

The sister and I saw the new sister growing in faith under God’s grace, and we spent much time taking care of and praying for the new sister. While doing so, I realized many things.

Not so long ago, I had a tendency to judge brothers and sisters from my own perspective. Such a tendency was pervasive in my lifestyle.

As a fast walker, I liked walking through a crowd and ahead of other people even when I’m not busy. I often got lost while walking fast without knowing where I was heading, and later asked for directions. When I walked with my family or friends, of course, I was always ahead of them. When they asked me to slow down to walk together, I was frustrated and thought, ‘Why do they walk so slow?’ It was the same in my life of faith; I wanted to receive blessings alone, not doing things together.

But I changed a lot while doing the gospel work with the sister. As Mother said, “It’ll go well when you do it together. It’s easy when you do it together,” I realized that preaching in one accord with the sister was much easier and better than preaching alone.

Now I know that it’s a great joy that I have my brothers and sisters working together for the gospel. When they boldly preach the words of God after some hesitation, study the words of God with a humble mind, and become reliable gospel workers, my heart is full.

I am happy that I can do the gospel work with my brothers and sisters, praying with them. I think I can understand a little more of the depth of God’s command, “Love your neighbor as yourself.”

You may go fast if you go alone, but you cannot go far. You will easily tire yourself out, and it’s hard to regain your strength. I shall walk towards the kingdom of heaven that our Father and Mother lead me to, with my loving brothers and sisters by encouraging and helping one another, though it may take time.
