Believing in the Words: “It’ll Happen When You Do It”

Just a few days before the “Our Mother” Writing & Photo Exhibition opened in Pyeongtaek, I made a phone call to my brother-in-law.

“Hey, what are you doing on Sunday?”

“It’s my day off. Why?”

“Would you be able to spare some time? There’s an exhibition at the Church of God in Pyeongtaek, and I’d love for you to come with me.”

“Sure, why not.”

Honestly, I was surprised by his cheerful response. A few years ago, I had shared the truth of the Passover with him and introduced our church, but he had reacted quite negatively. Since then, it hadn’t been easy to bring up church matters again. But when I heard that the “Our Mother” Exhibition would be held, I remembered Heavenly Mother’s encouraging words—“It’ll happen when you do it”—and found the courage to reach out once more.

On the day we agreed to go, we watched the introduction video about the Church of God while waiting for our turn to enter the exhibition. My brother-in-law looked genuinely surprised throughout, as if the Church was completely different from what he had imagined. Once we entered the exhibition hall, he observed everything with sincere interest—and at one point, I even saw tears in his eyes.

It seemed that many of his preconceptions had been broken down. After the exhibition, he said he’d like to attend a worship at the Church of God. Trying to contain my excitement, I invited him to my local church that very day. Conveniently, there was a space that showcased media coverage about the Church of God all in one place.

When we arrived in Zion, several adult male members were already waiting to greet us. My brother-in-law looked delighted by the warm welcome, a smile never leaving his face. He carefully read through the news articles and even looked up Bible verses. Then, with his heart completely open, he received the blessing of becoming a child of God.

He shared afterward that he was deeply impressed by the Church of God’s global scale, the volunteer work done with love for neighbors, and the humble and kind behavior of the members. But what stood out most was how systematically everything was carried out. To me, his word “systematic” sounded like “harmonious teamwork.” Even that space filled with press articles was a product of teamwork. Despite the dusty and challenging environment, the adult male members sawed wood and hammered nails to build the display. The student members constantly cleaned and lent a hand. Members from the adult and young adult female members explained the church’s work clearly and kindly to help visitors understand the truth and clear up any misunderstandings. Looking back, my brother-in-law’s change of heart and acceptance of the truth were surely the fruit of unity.

When Mother said, “It’ll happen when you do it,” I believe She also meant, “It’ll happen when everyone works together in harmony.” I will wholeheartedly follow those words. Whatever the task, I sincerely wish to join hands with my Zion family and bring only joy to our Heavenly Father and Mother.
