On November 26, around 400 members of the East Gyeongbuk Region of the Church of God, along with local residents, carried out the “Forest of Hope” campaign along the Yeongcheon Dam Trail. In observance of World Soil Day (December 5) and International Mountain Day (December 11), participants collected fallen leaves that had accumulated over time to help prevent forest fires and pest infestations.

The 8 tons of leaves collected that day will be recycled into compost by the local government and used for the maintenance of local green spaces.

Church member Jeong Seon-mi from Munnae-dong said, “I visited Yeongcheon Dam during a weekend outing and had been quietly concerned about the thick piles of fallen leaves. I’m glad we had this opportunity to clean them up.”

Gyeongbuk Provincial Councilor Yoon Seung-oh, who visited the site, expressed his appreciation, saying, “I am grateful that the members of the Church of God carried out this much-needed activity.”
