The Church of God in the Southwest United States organized a special event for military families on Veterans Day (November 11). On November 19, a concert titled “Comfort for Our Heroes” was held at the Church of God in San Diego, California. The event, prepared by members from Los Angeles, San Diego, Las Vegas, and other areas, saw the attendance of over 350 people, including current and former soldiers, veterans, their families, and local residents.

The church members took the stage as orchestra performers and choir members, presenting grand performances. The 40-member South West Region [SWR] Orchestra performed various New Songs of the Church of God, such as “O My Everlasting Home” and “The Staff of Moses,” in a vibrant atmosphere, moving the hearts of the attendees. The 36-member choir collaborated with the orchestra, receiving applause and cheers as they sang the military march “Battle Hymn of the Republic” and New Songs such as “Heavenly Armies, the Dew of the Dawn,” and “There Is Only Heaven in My Heart.” Additionally, a brass ensemble played military anthems, and the choir led the audience in singing the beloved “Amazing Grace,” further enhancing the atmosphere.

The event went on for approximately two hours from 4 p.m., providing the audience with inspiration and comfort. Participants took photos together at the photo zone, creating warm memories to cherish.

Yesenia Hernandez, a Chief Petty Officer in the U.S. Navy, expressed gratitude, saying, “It felt like the tension I’d been holding onto throughout my military service, was released all at once. I felt at ease throughout today’s event.” Arne Nelson, a retired veteran, said, “I felt a strong sense of camaraderie from the church members. Everyone here today seems happy,” expressing his deep emotions. Brother Jasper Min, who played the violin, said, “The hard work of soldiers is often forgotten or taken for granted, but I was glad to express gratitude to them through this meaningful event. It feels rewarding to see that our appreciation was well received.”

On that day, Joel Anderson, Director of the San Diego County Board of Supervisors, thanked the Church of God for their altruistic role within the local community on Veterans Day, presenting them with a commendation.
