On May 14, the Ascension Day Service was held simultaneously at more than 7,800 Churches of God worldwide. Following the ten-day Prayer Week of Pentecost, the Sacred Assembly of the Day of Pentecost was held on May 24. Through the festivals, the members commemorated Jesus’ ascension and prayed for the latter rain of the Holy Spirit to be poured out. United in heart, they renewed their determination to complete the world evangelism with the blessing of the Holy Spirit.

Fulfilling the Gospel Mission by Walking With Almighty God: Ascension Day Service

The ascension of Jesus Christ, which took place forty days after His resurrection, gave the members of the early Church firm faith and hope that they too would ascend to heaven. Ten days later, the outpouring of the early rain of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost became a turning point, enabling them to spread that hope and blessing widely among the Gentiles.

At the Ascension Day Service, Mother prayed that Her children would spend their lives repaying Father’s grace by showing compassion to others and earnestly and boldly proclaiming the message of salvation, just as the members of the early Church did. She encouraged the members, saying, “Let us pray fervently and receive the Holy Spirit abundantly at Pentecost.”

General Pastor Kim Joo-cheol urged the members, saying, “Like Enoch and Elijah in Old Testament times, those who walk with God receive the blessing of ascension. Remembering Father’s words, ‘I follow Mother,’ let us walk to the very end with the Spirit and the Bride, who say, ‘Come!’ ” (Ge 5:24; 2 Ki 2:1–11; Mal 3:7; Rev 22:17; 1 Th 4:13–18). He also emphasized, “The apostles preached boldly in response to Christ’s commission, ‘You will be my witnesses . . . to the ends of the earth.’ As witnesses of the Spirit and the Bride, let us also fulfill our mission to preach the gospel with steadfast faith” (Lk 24:47–53; Ac 1:6–11; Isa 46:10–11).

That evening, the Prayer Week of Pentecost began. The members held worship services morning and evening, earnestly seeking the grace of the Holy Spirit.

Proclaim the Glory of Jerusalem Mother: Sacred Assembly of the Day of Pentecost

The work of the Holy Spirit experienced by the early Church at Pentecost was powerful. The gospel of the new covenant spread rapidly among those who had not known that the Savior had come, and thousands accepted Christ in a single day.

In the last days, God has promised a work of the Holy Spirit seven times more powerful than that. At the Sacred Assembly of the Day of Pentecost, Mother prayed that Her children, born again through the Holy Spirit, would become trumpeters of the gospel, equipped with wisdom and faith, and lead the world to salvation. She commended the members for keeping the festival with sincere devotion despite their busy schedules and reassured them, saying, “Father knows the desires of your hearts and will grant them all. Whenever you face difficulties, pray all the more and receive abundant blessings of the Holy Spirit.”

General Pastor Kim Joo-cheol preached about the duty of those who have received the Holy Spirit, emphasizing that they testify to the Savior. He said, “Now is the age in which God the Mother, together with God the Father, calls humanity, saying, ‘Come!’ It is a great work to boldly proclaim Heavenly Mother so that our lost brothers and sisters can hear the call and return” (Jer 3:17–18; Isa 60:1–22; 62:6–7; Ps 122:1–5).

He further emphasized, “When we strive, in accordance with prophecy, to lead all nations to Mother, the heavenly Jerusalem, the work of the Holy Spirit unfolds. Let us make known throughout the world the God who dwells in Zion and generously share the hope of salvation with those burdened by life’s hardships” (Eze 3:17; Ps 19:1–4; Jer 4:5–6; Isa 33:20–24).

Having observed the festivals in the grace of God, the members looked forward to the work of the Holy Spirit to come and resolved to devote themselves even more fully to preaching the gospel.
