A special event was held to uplift the weary shoulders of workers. On April 16, a “Seminar for Workers” took place at the Church of God locations in Cheongcheon, Incheon; Wonju; and Uichang, Changwon. Over 2,200 people, including members from nearby regions such as Bucheon, Gimhae, and Gangneung, attended the seminar, bringing along their coworkers, friends, and acquaintances to share in its touching messages.
On a Wednesday evening, midway through the workweek, attendees were greeted with a variety of side events as they arrived at the venue after work. At the calligraphy postcard booth, guests picked up cheerful cards with encouraging messages and cute illustrations to gift themselves, and posed for photos at a vibrant pink photo zone. At the coffee grounds craft station prepared by the Church of God Young Adult Worker Volunteer Group (ASEZ WAO), participants colored and shaped coffee ground residues into character-shaped keychains, creating their own personalized souvenirs.
Around 8 p.m., the chamber orchestra opened the seminar with a beautiful performance. A lively rendition of the Church of God’s New Song “Beautiful Is Today” was followed by the gentle and sweet melody of “Merry-Go-Round of Life,” the soundtrack from Howl’s Moving Castle. A relaxed smile appeared on many faces as the music eased away the stress of the day. Songs like “On Days When the Wind Stays,” sung by a mixed choir, and the fusion traditional Korean piece “Beautiful Country” also received warm applause from the audience.
Next came the “Empathy Talk” session. Before the event began, participants had written answers on sticky notes to the question: “What is most precious to you?” The host read out responses ranging from practical ones like “my paycheck” and “my car” to emotional answers like “myself” and “family,” bringing laughter and understanding to the crowd. With the host’s heartfelt words, “This is time just for you, who are most precious,” the main seminar officially began.
The theme of the seminar was the “Passover,” reflecting the sincere desire of church members to share God’s blessings with their loved ones. Using videos produced by the Church of God and uploaded to its YouTube channel, along with presentation slides, the speaker vividly explained the origin of the Passover from the time of the Exodus and the blessings it promises. Before concluding the seminar, the host encouraged participants to express their gratitude to the coworkers and friends who came with them, recognizing the value of those by their side. Attendees exchanged finger hearts, creating a heartwarming atmosphere.
Mupati Henry David, an international student from Uganda, shared, “The message of the seminar—to keep the precious Passover with precious people—was truly wonderful. It made me happy to see people gathered and enjoying themselves. I’ve been feeling stressed from working in such a hectic environment, so this really lifted my spirits.” Lee Yohan from Wonju said, “I love music, so the performances were a treat. Sharing thoughts and concerns about work life was very encouraging.” Lee Seul from Incheon, who had invited a coworker, commented, “I hoped my coworker could escape the office routine, relieve some stress, and become happy a little. Even in tough times, I want them to remember that someone is always here to comfort them.”
Even after the seminar ended, the side event booths remained lively. Attendees, having shared joyful moments with their loved ones, left with their hearts full and their fatigue melted away.
