A wedding is taking place at Cana in Galilee.

Jesus’ mother is there, and Jesus and His disciples have also been invited to the wedding. During the banquet, the wine is gone. Jesus’ mother says to the servants,

“Do whatever Jesus tells you.”

Pointing to six large jars, Jesus says to the servants,

“Fill the jars with water.”

They fill every jar to the brim as Jesus has directed them.

“Now draw some out and take it to the master of the banquet.”

The servants take a cup filled with water from the jar to the master of the banquet.

The water has already been turned into wine before they knew it.

When the master of the banquet tastes the water that has been turned into wine, he is amazed and calls the bridegroom aside.

“Everyone brings out the choice wine first and then the cheaper wine; but you have saved the best till now.”

By performing His first miracle, Jesus reveals His glory and His disciples put their faith in Him.

Water can never be turned into wine. However, it is possible for God Almighty.

If we just obey whatever God tells us, it will be done; even something beyond human ability can certainly be accomplished. This doesn’t require our thoughts or experiences at all.

Does it seem impossible to preach the gospel to people all around the world?

When we obey God no matter what He asks us to do, the prophecy that “the gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world” (Mt 24:14) will be fulfilled miraculously.

Then there is one thing to remember: Obedience comes from perfect faith!
