On June 23, approximately 470 members of the Yeongdong Church Association from Wonju, Gangneung, and Chuncheon participated in a cleanup effort at Mukhohang Waterfront Park in Donghae, to clean drains and beaches in preparation for potential flooding during the rainy season. Accumulations of silt and trash in the drains can cause rainwater to back up during heavy rainfall, making preventive measures crucial.
The members opened the drains and entered to remove trash and sediments and clear weeds, making every effort to mitigate the risk of flooding. Additionally, they contributed to improving the local environment by collecting trash from the beach. A Donghae City Council official expressed gratitude to the members who gathered in Donghae for this cleanup effort, stating, “Local governments rely on the support of citizens to address areas we are unable to reach.”
