Before the Passover, Judas Iscariot goes to the chief priests.

“What are you willing to give me if I hand Jesus over to you?”

As the chief priests have been plotting to arrest in some sly way and kill Jesus of Nazareth who is an eyesore to them, they count out for Judas thirty silver coins.

From then on, Judas watches for an opportunity to hand Him over.

Judas Iscariot was one of Jesus’ twelve disciples with Peter, John, and Matthew. He gained enough trust to be the keeper of the money bag. And he witnessed the miraculous works of Jesus right beside Him. It was a life that many Christians today dream of.

Nevertheless, Judas abandoned the responsibilities of an apostle and handed Jesus over for money in conspiracy with the chief priests. He must have not intended to betray him from the beginning. The love and power of Christ, the blessing of the gospel mission—he was very well aware of all this. But he forgot its value, so he eventually joined the worst crime of crucifying the Savior.

Those who think they are standing firm should be careful that they don’t fall (1Co 10:12). Let us examine our faith if we are staying away from the word with an excuse that we know everything and are gradually losing our heart to meaningless things, or if we are ignorant of the truth unknowingly, losing our first resolution. The doors of heaven are open to those who engrave the value of salvation upon their hearts and discharge all the duties of gospel ministry to the end. They will be given the power of the royal priesthood.
