On August 14, over 60 members of ASEZ STAR, the Church of God Student Volunteer Group, and their friends from Bucheon, gathered to throw EM Mud Ball1 into the Gulpo Stream. The EM mud balls, which enhance the self-purification capacity of water and eliminate odors, were prepared by the members themselves three weeks earlier to the event. On their way to Seoun Bridge, the meeting point, they also contributed to protecting the ecosystem by picking up trash, including discarded plastics, from the area around the stream.

1. It is made by mixing an EM solution, which contains 80 types of beneficial microorganisms, with loess soil and a fermentation accelerator. The mixture is then shaped into balls the size of a baseball and left to ferment.

Cho Su-ah from Bucheon said, “I sweat a lot in the hot weather, but it made me proud. Making EM mud balls has sparked my interest in environmental issues.” Bucheon City Councilor Son Jun-gi, who joined the members in throwing the EM mud balls, said, “Students, who will lead our future, are putting great effort into restoring the Gulpo Stream and protecting the environment. I hope they continue this efforts and grow into leaders who create a better society.”
