Though They Try to Hide the Truth with a Lie

Two women went to the tomb of Jesus, where they met an angel. The angel told them that Jesus had risen, and they were filled with great joy and ran to tell this good news to Jesus’ disciples.

Some of the guards also went into the city and reported to the chief priests everything that had happened.

The chief priests met with the elders and devised a plan. Then they gave the solders a large sum of money, telling them,

“You are to say, ‘His disciples came during the night and stole him away while we were asleep.’ If this report gets to the governor, we will satisfy him and keep you out of trouble.”

As instructed by the chief priests, the soldiers spread a false rumor here and there. The false rumor was widely circulated among the Jews.

The chief priests attempted to cover up the truth of Jesus’ resurrection by creating a lie. However, the truth is bound to reveal itself sooner or later. At that time, some people were temporarily deceived by the false rumor. However, no matter how hard they tried to hide the truth with their lie, numerous people all around the world believe in the resurrection of Jesus and proclaim Him as the Savior today.

What about this age? The truth of the new covenant is frequently denied, although it is clearly recorded in the Bible, and the church that God established is slandered with various false rumors. The result is the same as it was 2,000 years ago. No matter how hard the darkness tries to hide the truth, the light of the truth will surely reveal itself in due time. The darkness can never overcome the light.

And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing. The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ … God … made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ. 2 Co 4:3–6
