My Privilege

My husband and I run a small restaurant in Yongin. At first, I was just an assistant for my husband who is a chef, but as time went by, I became more than an assistant. Working in the restaurant from 9 in the morning to 9 at night, I had no time for myself. I wanted to give as much help as possible to my husband who was working so hard, but at the same time, I couldn’t stop thinking, ‘When will I get out of this routine?’

Sometimes, I recalled the good old days when I did the gospel work with the brothers and sisters on the front line of the gospel before moving here, and then I got so eager to go back to those days. I envied the brothers and sisters, who seemed to preach the gospel, enjoying their free time, unlike me who was living a tough life every day.

A sister in Zion comforted me, saying that I was working in a good environment to preach, but to be honest, I didn’t agree with her. Being afraid that I might fall away right before the kingdom of heaven came, I preached the truth at the restaurant every once in a while, but I didn’t feel the joy of participating in preaching because I had to constantly think about many other things like customers that might come at any time.

But then recently, one of our restaurant workers became God’s child. I also found out that one of the part-time workers was our sister who had received the truth in the past. At first, I thought Mother had sent me these souls to encourage me, but then something resounded in my heart.

‘This is a privileged place assigned specially to me to preach the gospel!’

God allowed me to preach the truth at this place to my heart’s content, by calling the souls that have no time to hear the truth due to their busy lives. However, I’d only regarded it as a prison cell with invisible bars. I had also failed to recognize that there had been many changes around me while working here for four years.

I had been blessed to bear fruit every single year while working here. First of all, my husband who had not understood my life of faith for a long time received the truth after we started our restaurant here, and he even got to the point where he could quickly answer the questions the preacher gave during worship service. My husband offers a prayer of thanks before eating. It is something I have never even imagined before, so it makes me smile and gives me strength just by looking at him pray.

At present, there are four of our heavenly family members working together at our restaurant. Just as the spring of the water of life continues to well up without drying, God keeps sending our heavenly family members to our restaurant.

I regret having wasted time feeling pessimistic about my circumstance, not realizing that God gives perfect circumstances to each person and gives him or her blessings there. So I’ve made a gospel plan to carry out in my privileged place; it is to lead all the workers in my restaurant into Heavenly Father and Mother’s arms. I will do my best in the time and environment God has given me until I fulfill this goal.
