God has told us to “be joyful always, pray continually, and give thanks in all circumstances” (1 Th 5:16–18). To give thanks in all circumstances means to be always thankful, no matter what the circumstance—good or bad, easy or difficult. When God tells us to give thanks for everything, there must be a reason we should be thankful. We are always receiving abundant love from God. In Korea, you can sometimes see the expression, “The National Assembly in a vegetative state,” on the newspaper. It is a sarcastic expression indicating the National Assembly which causes a high social cost without doing its duty. Time flows ceaselessly when we are sleeping, working, taking a break, and eating; it passes no matter what we are doing.
